Baby Milestones: Month-by-Month Guide
What to expect developmentally in the first 12 months.
Every baby develops differently, but here are general milestones.
0-3 Months
Lifts head briefly, follows objects with eyes, smiles, coos, recognizes faces.
4-6 Months
Rolls over, sits with support, laughs, reaches for objects, babbles, starts solids.
7-9 Months
Sits independently, crawls, transfers objects hand-to-hand, responds to name, stranger anxiety.
10-12 Months
Pulls to stand, cruises furniture, may take first steps, says "mama/dada," waves bye-bye, pincer grasp.
Remember: Ranges are wide. Talk to your pediatrician if you have concerns, but don't compare obsessively.
