Before You Commit
Make sure the expecting parent actually wants a surprise. Some people hate surprises, especially while pregnant.
Coordination Tips
- Have one person who knows the expecting parent's schedule
- Create a separate communication channel for planning
- Get registry info secretly from partner or close family
- Have a believable cover story for the event
Day-Of Logistics
- Get the expecting parent there under false pretenses (brunch with one friend, etc.)
- Have guests arrive 15-30 minutes early and hide cars if at a home
- Designate someone to text "5 minutes away"
- Don't yell too loud — pregnant women startle easily
Backup Plan
If surprise gets blown, pivot gracefully. The celebration still matters more than the surprise.
